another affair and the pain it causes
I have to admit that I am not crazy about affairs of any kind if I am the recipient of the hurt that they cause. If they hurt others, well that is something different and a topic for a different post altogether. Over the last week David has been gone to China on a conference. It has sucked. I miss him. A lot. Being the self destructive person that I am, well, I got into a bit of trouble. There is even evidence.

Bet you thought I was going to show you something bad?! No. My affair has been to my knitting. It has been sorely neglected as the spinning bug has taken over. This is a mix of Spunky Eclectic and Crown Mountain rovings. And, it is some stash busting. The problem is that I screwed up my shoulder a few weeks ago (please don’t ask, it falls under the TMI category). On Saturday it started to get sore again. This after spinning up a good 3.5 ounces of the Spunky on Friday and then starting the Crown Mountain on the same day. By Saturday night I noticed that my shoulder was getting sore but thought nothing of it. Come Sunday afternoon it got worse. Did I stop? No. I kept on going until I had plied the a bobbin full.
Monday morning. Wake up. Can barely move my fucking neck. Cursing myself I dropped Cameron off at daycare and came home with the phone book open and my cell phone handy. After calling a bunch of places I finally was able to get into Sante. I had a great massage. If every touch given could be considered great. She touched my shoulders before I even got onto the table and made a tsk’ing noise at how tense/tight the muscles were. By the end of the therapeutic massage I was sore and she was tired. I go back on Sunday!!
So my Ladybug is back in her corner. This is probably for the best since my housework and laundry have fallen to the wayside during this affair. Also, maybe I can make amends with my projects beside my chair.

1. How long have you been spinning? What skill level do you consider yourself?
Over a year. I consider myself to be Intermediate/Advanced.
2. What kinds of yarn do you create (singles/2-ply/3-ply/art yarn)?
Singles, 2-ply and 3-ply
3. What do you spin with (spindle/wheel/both)?
Wheel (2 schacts, 1 ladybug – are the wheels of choice in the house at the moment)
4. What are your favorite fibers to spin with? Anything you don’t like?
I don’t have a favorite. I would say no mohair/angora as I am allergic to them. Though at some point I may challenge my allergies for the fun of it.
5. Who are your favorite crack dealers fiber sources (etsy or otherwise)?
Pretty much anyone listed on the sidebar. If you are on etsy feel free to look at my roving stash. I like trying new dealers also I love to be introduced to dealers I was unaware of or haven’t tried. Feel free to email me if you want some specifics of who I would like to try.
6. What kind of fiber do you want to try?
I am open to what my pal thinks is good.
7. Is there any techniques you would like to learn?
Well I should learn how to spin bulky. But I’m just not into the bulk.
8. Do you dye fiber? If not, would you like to learn?
Yes I dye. My stuff is in etsy.
9. Do you have fiber prep tools (and like to use them) or would you prefer ready to spin fiber?
Ready fibre. I am not into the prep work. At least not at this time in my life.
10. What do you do with your handspun? What projects have you completed?
You mean its not just supposed to sit in your stash along with the rest of my yarn?
11. Are you in need of any spinning gadgets (WPI Gauge, threading hook, etc)?
I like those fancy threading hooks, but if I had to chose between that and a Starbuck’s mug from where my swap person is from I would go with the mug.
12. What colors "fall into your shopping basket"? Any colors you just can’t stand?
Not big on Neon’s. Other than that anything is game.
13. What is on your wheel/spindle right now?
At this exact moment, kfb fibre club and some spunky eclectic .
14. What other crafts/hobbies do you have?
I knit, I collect yarn. Thats about it.
15. Other than crafts, what are you passionate about?
My son, my dog, my boyfriend (*snickerrudecoughsnicker*)
16. Do you have an online wishlist?
No. Mostly because if I want something bad enough I eventually buy it.
17. Is there anything that you collect?
YES! Starbuck’s city mugs. I have them from all over the world.
18. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What magazine subscriptions do you have?
Interweave, Vogue and Knit Scene (I believe) are subscriptions I have. Other than that I am always on the lookout for cool yarn.
19. When is your birthday?
January 19
20. What book or movie character do you most resemble in personality?
omg. that is kinda hard. Maybe Samantha from Sex & the City. She is always very abrupt and talks a lot about sex.
21. What is the climate like where you live around this time (need to know for careful shipments of anything meltable)?
Warm but not hot. More dry than wet. Chocolate in August is probably not a good choice.
22. Tell us one weird fact about yourself!
Just one? is that fair? Does it have to be clean? – oh alright – I will keep this on the g – rated side. I am actually a quiet person. For those who know me they would look at me like I am weird to say that. But I do enjoy being alone and am a bit of a recluse sometimes.

Blame it on the rain…
No I’m not going to start lip syncing to Milli Vinilli (sp?) (and if you don’t know who they are, well, then you are REALLY missing out on some good years).
On Friday I received a letter from my Oma and Opa with pictures of my dad. I had asked, when he died, to get a baseball cap, cigar and some pictures. I got nothing. Dad’s parents sent me the pictures that they had of dad. There weren’t many as they had sent a lot to my stepmother for the memorial/funeral service. These are now framed in my dad’s old house and were never returned to his mother. I’m a bit bitter but that is for another post. Today, I was tired and emotional. I couldn’t figure it out. Then, David and I went out for dinner and I started to cry when I was telling him about the pictures and the letter from my grandparents.
I always think that I am fine. That I am doing really good when it comes to dad and his memories. And then it hits me when I don’t expect it. Yes I did cry when I looked at the pictures on Friday, but, for me, that was the extent of it, or so I thought. Obviously I am affected a little bit more than I initially thought. I was driving home tonight and started to cry when I listened to Elton John’s Rocket Man. I think of dad whenever I hear that song. Its actually on my ipod songs of the moment. Perhaps a lesson in desensitization?
Anyways, I have this one memory of dad that always brings a smile to my face. The Rolling Stones singing Emotional Rescue. My dad singing along. Picking the seeds out of his dope. Yeah okay. So not the most "child friendly" memory (I was maybe 4-5?) but its something that makes me smile. It was SO dad. He was such a goof, but also a wonderful man, most of the time. Of course there are "bad" memories but no one is perfect.
I am going to take the pictures into work and scan them. Perhaps I will post some at some point.

Will it ever fucking stop raining?? I mean, seriously, I am growing webbed feet here. The weather is definitely getting to the people in this city. They are much crankier than usual and have shorter fuses. Then again, there are some people who are just fucking bitches and will never change. No matter what the weather is like!
The KFB fibre club first installment is all dyed up. It was based on my wishes for summer to actually be here. I am excited for everyone to get their packages (which will go out this weekend!).
