Hand Knit Friday

Well, now that I am actually knitting socks it should be easier for me to show off my hand knits. I have been wearing a pink alpaca sweater that Karen gave me constantly at work. But since its all the time its not a knew knit. (but it keeps me nice and WARM since the office is fucking freezing).

These are the Reversai socks for Sock Madness with a change in the pattern. Since I didn’t make it to the next round, I decided to do the legs in stockinette rather than the pattern to get them done. Lorna’s Laces in the “Devon” colorway from my stash (yes I actually picked something from there rather than buying new yarn). They are nice and comfy. Notice the shoes? I went after work yesterday and bought a brown pair and black pair of shoes that would show off my socks. Whats the point of having them if you can’t show them off?

My only problem with the socks (and this is a common problem for me) is that I have narrow feet but thicker calves. I like close fitting socks. But when I cast off it is not stretchy enough so it is a fight to get them on over my heel. Once on they are ok. But they don’t just slide on nicely. I knit these socks on a US 0 and cast off with a US 2. Still, they are an issue. So its probably time I learned a new way of casting off.

Next on the plate for socks are Knit Front and Back DK weight socks. This is a new yarn for us and HOLY SHIT I love it. So smooooshy.

And I am loving the colors. A few months ago the BF’s daughter asked for some purple/green slippers. Boy did I ever bitch about the color choice. But, for some reason I am on a purple/green kick and am loving how these knit up. I can’t wait to wear them. The toes and heels are that green color. *love*

And its Friday. I had nightmares last night. Have no clue why. And can’t remember them now. But it left me tired and drained today. I am going to try to leave work early and nap. Tomorrow, its time with the girls which will be awesome. And knitting time. I am hoping for a bunch of knitting time.
