Knitting Progress and Tattoo
It’s January 9 and knitting has occurred …

Citron Shawl in Malabrigo Lace - Velvet Grape
I started this on January 1. It’s a very easy knit but with having to add and decrease every few rows it keeps it interesting. The malabrigo is SO soft, I could just curl up into it.
I am working on my lightweight pullover. I am halfway through the raglan increases. As for my Shalom Cardigan, I have half of a sleeve left to do and still have a lot of Madelinetosh Eyre left over!
On Thursday (jan 8, 2010) I went and got my FIRST tattoo. Karen was getting this magnificent cupcake on her arm (go check it out) and her guy made time for me when he was done with her.

my first tattoo
It is in my mom’s handwriting and says “Mostest” which is what mom has always said to me and I now say to Cameron. The three daisies represent my mom, me and Cameron. He said that the blue one was him, the green one is me and the pink one is for grandma cuz she is the oldest so she gets the biggest. It is on the inside of my left wrist so that I can cover it up with my watch if need be. I smile whenever I look down at it and am SO happy with it.

Its the beginning of a new year and a new decade. There have been a lot of changes in my life over the last year most of them positive even if at the time they didn’t seem that way. This year I am not going to be making any resolutions because I don’t keep them so there is no point in starting the year setting myself up for failure. My hope this year is to blog more, I actually miss blogging. This should be easier to do as I am now fostering dogs for ARF – Animal Rescue Foundation and blogging about the dogs and the experience. At the moment Hazel is in my care and you can read about her on my other blog Just One More Dog.
As for knitting, I have set up some goals for myself that I would like to accomplish. I joined a couple of groups in Ravelry to help me achieve my goals:
10 Shawls in 2010 – the group is pretty self explanatory. 8 of the shawls must be made with a minimum of 273 yards and the other 2 a minimum of 546 yards. I think that this will be a great stash buster for all the sock yarn that I have accumulated over the years.
IntSweMoDo2010 – International Sweater a Month Decodathon – Basically its knitting 12 adult sized sweaters. I keep saying I’m going to knit sweaters but then only do one or two a year.
Lace is my Bitch – I love the name of this group. It’s all about lace knitting and conquering it.
I have also joined a few other groups this year and thankfully my projects can cross between them. The biggest one for me though this year is joining up with the yarn snobs and doing their stashdown. It is a yearly total of yarn in and out but they doing it in quarterly sections.
Stashdown 2010 – This group is great because I can still buy yarn – my personal goal is to have at the least a zero if not negative balance on Dec 31, 2010. I have purchased a lot of yarn in 2009 which I haven’t received yet and it doesn’t count for this – thankfully – otherwise I would be in big trouble to begin with! Also, your yarn used up only counts once you have finished a project. Another inspiration for completing projects.
So, thats pretty much it for my knitting hopes in 2010. I am looking forward to this year and all that it has to offer!

12 shopping days until Christmas Does it count if I only seem to be shopping for myself? Like seriously! Lets take a quick run down of what I have purchased in the MONTH of December (we won’t talk about what I purchased at EatSleepKnit during their Black Friday sale, that comes a bit later in this post.)
Okay so Madelinetosh has been trying out some new base yarn and experimenting with colors. I am addicted to her yarn and have been stalking her etsy store when I am able to do so to see what she has up for grabs.

Okay, so yes, I have been spoiling myself. But whatever!! It makes me happy. Plus, do you blame me after seeing all this luscious goodness? (really this is just a rhetorical question).
Now, here is an update on the patterns that I have been working on. One is finished and the other a WIP.

Madelinetosh Sock & Lucy Neatby Cat's Pajamas
The project that I am currently working on is out of Madelinetosh Eyre in Fig that I received with my sweater club subscription. This yarn is so yummy, yes yummy, that I can’t even explain it.

Clubbin’ it again.
1) I joined the Madelinetosh sweater club. I received my first shipment this week. A sweaters worth of Eyre yarn in the Fig colorway. Freakin luscious. I need to find the right pattern for this yarn that will show it off the best

2) The other club I joined is the Just Babs Knitting Club. The theme is women in history. I received the first shipment today. OMG is the color ever beautiful. But, I’m too lazy to take a picture of it!

I have to go on some training for work. I find it interesting that I’m not so stressed about the amount of work that I have to do before I go and after I get back. I’m stressed out about what knitting projects to take and how much knitting I will get done.
Its all about priorities.

November 1 already. Where is the time going? I know, a redundant question, but one I ask myself often. Time seems to be going faster and faster. Mom tells me its because I’m getting old. Thanks moms.
To continue on the “lets finish this” kick I’ve been on, I have completed a project and also started/completed a project. Hold on to your hats peeps. What is this world coming to. Is she “really” going to stop overcommitting on her knitting? NO, you silly bunnies, I just have more I want to cast on!

This sweater took me three days to knit and I have worn it twice since I finished it. It is comfortable and not too hot even though I used a bulky yarn. The 3/4 length sleeves are the key as I usually push my sleeves up when I am hot.
I am going to start this new thing with my knitting where I focus on one project each month. I can still knit anything I want but the “majority” of my knitting time (aka 75%) must be on this one project. The project can be the focus of multiple months if need be. Hopefully this will help me continue to finish projects that I have started while still feeding my need to cast on multiple projects whenever I desire.

The Tree Jacket is now started, well okay, it officially was started last weekend but I am making steady progress on it. I am currently working on US 7’s and black malabrigo. The 7’s make the stitches quite tight/stiff but I know that this yarn stretches and pills (as most single ply yarns do) and I don’t want that to happen with this sweater. Progress so far:

Also, this morning on tv there was an add for barbie – did you know that you can get her in her work clothes? She is only a secretary. You would think in this day and age we would see barbie be an executive. I could rant about it but I will save that for something more deserving.
